Trapped Nerve
5 Answers
I think that I have a trapped nerve in my shoulder. For a lot of the time I don't feel anything and then I et the most excruciating spasm of pain that lasts a matter of seconds. It is so painful it makes me call out and I feel almost sick. I have no idea what has caused it and there is no particular movement that sets it off. For about an hour this evening it has been constant. I rubbed ibuprofen gel on it and taken a couple of solpadol and it has settled down again. Is it worth going to the doctor or will it get better on its own?

Sounds like a "trapped nerve" as you say, caused by a bit of wear and tear in the bones of your neck........ cervical spondylitis. Nothing much can be done at this stage and I cannot see your GP offering any advice other than what you are doing.... Ibuprofen Gel and pain relieving tablets. Give it a couple of weeks and if it gets worse, or your treatment is not working, then see your GP.

thank you all for your help - back to how it was fairly intermittent - It was probably the ironing I did yesterday that caused it to get worse. It is in my left shoulder & I'm right-handed but obviously use my LH as well when ironing. Yes Squad I do have problems with my neck especially the LH side. I'll keep doing what I'm doing
