Well, they say you are not "offically" menopausal until you haven`t had a period for a year so it is possible.
Yes and it will probably be a very heavy period. Take care, FS.
yes, the odd period in the first couple of years of menopause is normal.
Yes, according to my mum. For the first 3 years or so of the menopause she had the occasional period.

I don't think it is uncommon.

My periods dwindled and finally stopped when I was in my early 40's, personally I've not had an intermittent bleed.
Yes, in the last year of my periods I only had one, just for a few days.
\\\ I have started to bleed is this usual?\\\

it might be..........or it might not be.
Monitor the situation and if the bleeding persists and you get pain or bleeding on intercourse, then see you GP.

It probably is normal.......

Thanks all, my boobs are also painfu/tender, so assume it must be hormonal.
I had a few very heavy times mid menapause if you u know what I mean..flooding..but cleared up with no probs..just a bit messy....

Still bleeding 10 days later, not sure whether to bother the doctor with it or not.
Your doctor won't mind one bit Fruitsalad. If you keep bleeding, your doctor likely to give you Progesterone tablets to stop bleeding. That's what I had to take for a short while. This will probably be your last period. Don't worry, all sounds quite a common happening in women going thru menopause!
Do your periods normally last ten days and is it heavy?
Question Author
No they dont usually last this long about 6 days normally, and yes they are heavy, as I haven't had a period for the past 10 months I just wondered if thats why its lasting so long.
Fruitsalad...don't ignore it....I had v red show after nothing for over 10 years 2 weeks ago, GP referred me urgently to gynae....am having keyhole hysterectomy before end of this month.

10 years and 10 months are a bit different, Baths. :-)

Good luck with your surgery

It's all part of menopause but to put your mind at rest, if it was me, I'd go and see my GP and let them reassure me.
Just as a matter of information, a persons last period isn't necessarily a 'very heavy' one, they can peter out, fade out, just stop, start again, flood...you get the picture.
If you're worried, go and see you GP, that's what they're there for.
And I'd agree, ten months is vastly different to ten years...

Thank you all, If it doesn't start to slow by tomorrow, think I will give doctors a call,

Wishing you all the best with the surgery Baths.
Thanks fruit! I'm just so impressed with the speed I'm being dealt with, but then I'm such a great age...;)
