You might have other related symptoms that are not "normal" for you. Tiredness, a tendency to develop neckache, stiff joints on waking, and tinitus or disturbance in hearing (having to swallow to get the ears to "click" back like descending in an aircraft). If this is so then you most likely have a "head cold", a viral infection of the sinuses, Eustacian tubes and possibly middle ear. Such infections are self-limiting, and if you are a young, fit, person not under some immunity suppression therapy (post transplnt etc.) it will go away after about four to five weeks. Anti-biotic drugs are useless against virus attack.
Remedies for symptoms: If not under blood thinning therapy (Warfarin, Heparin etc.) then twice daily "Mu-Cron" (over counter pharmacy) will prevent the over production of mucous that is the source of the discomfort. Inhaling Olbas Oil (over counter pharmacy) is another useful trick for clearing stubborn sinus blockages. Try to sleep on your back so that the mucous does not drain to one side during the night and increase discomfort in the morning.
Disclaimer: If you are under any other therapy or headaches persist for most of the day over two or three days, or affect your vision, speech or motor co-ordination adversely you must see a doctor. Nothing I have said should be a substitute for qualified medical opinion from your own doctor who will know you better than any on Answebank.
