I`m -6 short sighted and have become long sighted. I am trialling some monthly lenses whereby one is for long sight and the other is for short sight. I don`t like them but someone told me that you have to persevere. Has anyone tried this and how long did it take for your brain to learn to live with them?

I've got varifocal glasses and they took me quite a while to get used to. Over a month.

My sister also has a pair and she simply can't get used to them.
I would get contact lenses to fix your shortsightedness, then use reading glasses when necessary.

I already have contact lenses for short sight but I`m sick of constantly putting on and taking off reading glasses. I tried varifocal contacts but I still couldn`t read anything so this is the only other option. Apparently, the brain gets used to using one eye for distance and the other eye for close up but I want to know how long it takes.
I use one eye for long distance and one for short distance and most of the time it is okay. But I have been like this for decades.

I was under the impression that your brain did all the work in this situation.

I got up early to go to my voluntary job which starts at one. I was full of great plans but it is now nearly ten to and I am still here. Such is life !

Thanks wolf. I`ve taken them out because they make me feel sick. Back to the drawing board I guess.

belladonner - for how long did you use them before your brain learned to work with them?

I did the same a few years ago, just could not get on with them. Driving was the worst, having to move my eyes or turn head quickly caused problems and I nearly had an accident on the motorway. At that point I gave up, took to varifocal glasses within days.
