My eldest didn't take her first steps until she was 13 months but, as soon as she did, she was very steady on her feet and a confident walker. My youngest, however, started walking at 10 months and I spent almost every day wishing she hadn't! The amount of falling over and the number of bruises she ended up with.......not worth the trouble! If I was mad enough and rich enough to do it all again - I'd definitely buy another baby-walker but this time I'd make the child use it!
Seriously though, there's nothing wrong with using them and it certainly doesn't stop them developing normally in other areas of their childhood.
