Ive been told i have to eat solids. Just aswell i am greedy for crisps etc but i had to stop midway through my toast this morning. When i wake up and the painkillers have worn off its torture! 4am every morning!
Ill stick to being the nurse ANYTIME over being a patient!! Especially being operated on in your place of work LOL x

I sympathise entirely, I had my tonsils and about half my soft palette removed with surgery.
It felt like somsone had pushed two white hot skewers into my ears, and one down my throat.
I recommend having two Solpadine maximum strength and a glass of water within reach at all times day and night. As soon as the twinges start, dissolve and neck the tabs. Especially in the middle of the night.
It does get better!

Quite so, Andy.
I had by tonsils out when I was 21 following twice yearly tonsillitis for as long as I could remember and finally topped off with Quinsies. I was in dock for eleven days, I watched three lots of kids come and go (in and out in 48 hours) and had to endure them playing football up and down the ward as part of their recovery process whilst I was dying. I was off work for another month as I couldn't eat anything that would not pass through a fine tea strainer. Not to be recommended, having your tonsils out in adulthood and you have my sympathy, tinkerbell.

Oh you poor lass.....I had mine out thirty years ago..so in my mid thirties... And it was a mistake....wrong diagnosis....
Never mind, I thought, I like ice cream......only to discover ice cream was a no-no then.......had to swallow dry toast before they let me home.....
I did recover quite quickly.....I think because I smoked in those days and I really wanted a ciggie....not that I am suggesting you light up of course!
Have you tried sucking crisps......then biting the bullet and swallowing.....not much help, am I.....
Be better soon....Ma x

are we taking our pain relief ?
You can do at least one paracetamol regularly every four hours ( 500 mg)
start off with two and then go down to one regularly
and add in ibuprofen every six hours - 200mg evey six hours
and go on doing it until the pain goes ...
Nature doesnt give you points for being in pain
