Since Friday, I have been experiencing bouts of diarrhoea. I thought it had eased off but it's back with a vengeance today. I feel nauseous, have a headache and feel chilled and fatigued.

The griping pains in my lower abdomen do not seem to be lessening.

How long will it take for this to pass? I was hoping it was a twenty four hour thing.

The twice I had noro I felt awful for 3 or 4 days and a week to get back to normal. Both times it eased off and came back in the first 3 days. It might not be that of course. Immodium helps and ibuprofen once I could keep them down. The only good thing was I lost a quick few pounds :-)
it depends what it is causing it. My mum had campylobactor food poisoning once and it took her 2 weeks t get back to normal
Sounds like a bout of gastric flue of which Norovirus was just one type. Nasty I know, I've had it.
Watery, usually nonbloody diarrhea — bloody diarrhea usually means you have a different, more severe infection.
Abdominal cramps and pain.
Nausea, vomiting or both.
Occasional muscle aches or headache.
Low-grade fever.
All relevant answers....3 days to 2 weeks.........
It does sound like Norovirus and should ease by tomorrow, but if it continues then a speciman of stool may be required and that means getting in contact with your GP.

Monitor the situation.

Thank you all.

Will paracetamol help with the stomach pains? I am sipping ginger ale to ease the nausea.
Well Paracetamol wouldn't be my choice, but Buscopan would certainly ease the cramps........if not available, then i agree with Prudie, take Ibuprofen.

Hope you feel better soon Tilly.

Thank you, Marval. I'm taking it easy today.
Make sure you drink because you could become dehydrated and that will make you feel worse (if that's possible) Feel better soon!

Thank you, Islay.

I'm sipping ginger ale and drinking tepid tea. I had a coffee earlier but it seemed to make the pains worse.
poor Tilly. Stick with something ginger.

I had an upset stomach a few weeks ago while on holiday and there was no ginger ale to be had for love or money. I finally had some on the flight back. but when I said why I wanted it, the stewardess threatened to throw me off the flight if I was ill. Thanks, Virgin. Always best to be sick at home.

Mine took about three days to pass, but of course I don't know if you've got the same thing.
You're doing the right thing with fluids, feel better very soon.x
