Hardly late middle age - Grieve is 48. I'm sure you have a very good idea of what a nutritious and varied diet is, so try to eat healthily. Increase your activity levels sensibly - if you are mainly inactive, try to at least take a walk every day, the brisker the better. Spring is here - play frisbee with your daughter.

I don't know much about you, as i havent seen you post before, but i am guessing that you are late middle aged lady, slightly overweight, not particularly active and have no other underlying medical conditions.
You are taking tablets to lower your BP and I would suggest that you try to lose weight, if you are overweight and try exercise (swimming is good or a 30 minute daily walk) provided of course that you are not suffering from an underlying arthritic condition.
Now......your cholesterol......6.4 is your total cholesterol and does not give the full picture....what i would like to know is your LDL (bad cholesterol). Your doctor will decide and advice as the whether you should take statins. I have my pwn personal view on this.
