Am worried about my son & PU. He has been under doc for 6mts but has lost so much weight, 38 to 32waist & dropping. He cant clench fists, complains of pain in arms & legs. Says his hands & feet whiten & numb.
Can you remind us of the evidence that supports the diagnosis of peptic ulcer....e.g endoscopy.
Also has he any underlying medical problems apart from his ulcer?
What drugs is he taking?
I have just looked at your profile and a peptic ulcer was diagnosed by endoscopy, although I wonder if a biopsy was taken....i.e are we sure that we ARE dealing with a peptic ulcer?
I am still interested in his past and present medical history.
No significant medical history. He constantly spits froth & feels food stays in his throat. He is 45y, funeral director, has no kids & lives with female partner.
Tambo....in my opinion it is inconceivable that the symptoms described by your son are solely due to a benign, innocent peptic ulcer.
Either he is not telling you the truth about the nature of the ulcer or there is something else going on and i fear the latter.
A second opinion or a chat with his Consultant is certainly indicated.
