Iud Removal - Could It Kickstart An Early Period?
4 Answers
Had a copper coil for 2 weeks - nightmare so got it removed on the 4th ap
felt better pretty fast and cramps were gone instantly
however there is rather a lot of blood still coming out - MORE than when it went in.
I am not due a period until about the 13th-ish - so has this just brought it on sooner?? or is it due to damage from the removal?
there was a lot of blood getting it in - and it was agony
it hurt to get out and i figured perhaps it had just scraped me and it would stop.
thanks

However 'better safe than sorry' is always a good maxim, so see your GP (or, at the very least, call 111) to seek reassurance.

Not a big deal at this stage (and am not sure what 111 has to offer)...it is either a period OR traumatic damage to your cervix (which is not uncommon during coil removal) and the next days will give you the answer........my money going on that it is trauma and should settle within the time period I have suggested.
