my mother who is 87 may need to go into a home, she has many needs, not least having a stoma, so a nursing home is a safer environment in all likelihood.
My grandmother used to be in a care home, but there came a time when they could no longer cope and she had to be moved into a nursing home. Not an ideal thing, to move and change environment, when a little muddled and aged.
My grandad was in a nursing home because he required a catheter (sp) and was bed bound. My nan was in a care home because besides everyday type meds she could care for herself to a good degree.
Not massively, LB, I think it was about £1,100 for nans and £1,300 for grandads. Nan's was a much much nicer home though. Brand new and more like a hotel.
Was that fairly recently ummmm? I wondered because Nurses are more expensive to employ than Carers. But then I don't know the ratio Nurse/Carer per patient in a Nursing Home.
