My doctor recommended I should get physio for my broken collar bone etc. I attended twice - physiotherapist very nice - anyhow she said she didn't want to bring me back until I had seen the fracture clinic doctor who then told me that collar bone was healing well.

Goes back to therapist last Wednesday (that should have been 3rd session) - I did think she was a little offhand with her attitude. She got me to sit on the bed then told me she was discharging me as she felt she couldn't do anything more to help me.

I told her that on the 2nd appointment with her I had got great relief but she insisted no, I am discharging you.

Now I have been to appointments over the years and always I received 6 sessions then was discharged. Do you think therapist was fair or what.

I can't comment specifically but she clearly feels you have a good grasp of the exercises and as healing is progressing you can carry on at home.

Maybe she is being squeezed to keep her list short?

You know me Mamy I was a little hurt.

the other thing Mamy - if she thought that - why did she bring me back to tell me this. She could have phoned me or wrote to me.

I would have been mad if I had driven far to hear that news.
I understand but try to take the positive side, healing is happening and that is largely down to you following instructions.

As you can tell, I'm an optimist. :-)
Yes a call would have been better.
Are you as dismissive of the medical profession in real life as you are on here?
Don't fret conne, but do continue doing the exercises.

Hi Anne - I have done some exercises but I will never ever get the full range of movement again.
I don't think she was dismissive Jenny Joan, she had to bring you in to see the improvement so she could then discharge you, try not take it personal, I remember waiting in the queue on a really hot day to see my oncologist - he was discharging me, I'll be reviewed annually by another hospital, best day ever, you don't want to be tied going for appointments forever, the fracture Dr must have sent his report to her that you are healing and that's why she thinks it's time you were discharged. Thinking she was offhand, you can't understand she may have had something else on her mind, maybe there was a family issue before she came out to work, maybe there is a work problem but whatever it is, I think you're getting better and she was discharging you following the fracture dr's report
You never do really, unless you're very young when you fracture bits of you.

I still have restricted movement from multiple fractures 20 years ago, but still try to exercise those joints.

thanks all for your replies. To Ducky - no she hadn't received the fracture doctor's report because as soon as I walked in she said all computers and phones were down and she actually said she hadn't received a report - sorry for repeating myself. Anyway I will try and exercise a little - mind you with today's dust from plumber, broken tiles in the bathroom I do have plenty to do. Now awaiting the plasterer and other tradesmen in the coming week/weeks.
Busy time for you JJ, take care.x
I broke my collar bone on the 27th November last year and I was given an exercise sheet and was told to do the exercises twice a day, I was never offered physiotherapy, 6 weeks later I saw the consultant who organised an x.ray at the clinic and to return to him when the x-ry dept had finished. He then told me that it was healing , but it could take up to 6 to 12 months to heal. He offered no information about aftercare but jsut said " I am discharging you now". So I suppose it was go home and let it heal!!! I wonder if it was because I am over the age of 70 that he thought it a waste of time.
