My hair is very thick and coarse (been described as horse hair!!!) but is it best to grow it long so it looks a bit more even (e.g. length balancing out the weight/thickness) or to have it cut to shoulder length with lots of layers so it is thinner and shorter? There are pros and cons to each but if I grew it long I'd get so mad at it while it is in the process of growing because there is nothing i can do with it at all and if i had it cut it grows back really fast and i dnt have the time or money to get it done regularly. Also I am very active + hav to tie my hair up a lot but it looks so much better when it short and been thinned out! Is there anywasy of thinning my hair on a more permanant basis?? Help as it is shapeless and dull at the moment!!!!

I'd have a word with a good stylist and see what they say. They should give a free consultation. Maybe see 2 or 3 and see which you like best.
i agree with spudqueen, know what you mean my sons hair is like a brillo pad can't do anything with it but have a number 1, bit easier for boys.
Hi, I have thick course hair as well. Sometimes I use a ceramic straightening iron and use a gel like substance containing silicone. That seems to do wonders. I then wash my hair about every other day. Of course, it's not a permanent solution. But, it works.
Think yourself lucky your hair still grows, I`ve got a bed and breakfast hairstyle...half bald...only at the front though and not a spamhead
