Fao Sqad Please

Sqad - I know you say diets don't work but my problem is that I cannot exercise much even walking is not easy. (I have severe OA both knees and AF - I am 85. ) I thought losing a bit of weight would help so I thought I would try the 5 : 2 diet - but looking at the list of people who maybe shouldn't be on it - I find that people taking Warfarin should consult a GP as the INR might increase.
I am on Eliquis 5mg twice a day - no Warfarin. What is INR and do I need to take advice from my GP?
Thanks a lot.

If it is worth it to you....then do it..diet, but if you enjoy your food, then don't restrict your food and fluid intake (wine) for the pleasure that it will give.
You are on a blood thinner Warfarin...too much and you will bleed, too little and your blood will thicken....your INR measurements will regulate this for you.
I have no idea why you should consult your GP before dieting, if you are taking Warfarin.

Thanks to all - just to say I'm not on Warfarin and my daughter is always surprised at how little I eat. I thought 5;2 would help me lose a little to help my joints, and as I have to eat a fairly low fibre diet, I thought it would be better than e g Slimming world which relies a lot on fruit and veg.
Thanks again . I would still like to know what INR is.

Just a thought, I also have problems weight bearing due to hypermobility and arthritis, and I do upper body workouts which you can find on youtube. They involve shaking and stretching and generally raising your heartbeat and getting a little warm and sweaty! This would count as exercise, but I would check with your GP to make sure it's suitable for you.
