The best way to transfer money abroad can depend upon how large a sum is involved. For a fairly small sum (say £100, or even £1000) PayPal is almost certainly the best way of doing it. However if you pal is, say, helping his brother to buy a house or a business (and perhaps wanting to transfer £100,000) an inter-bank transfer might be best.
