Are there ANY pain killers (stronger than paracetomol) that don't cause constipation?
Ive been on tramadol for years for lower back pain but don't take them if I can help it because I end up having to virtually O.D on lactulose, or some other laxative to get any relief. I'm in agony at the moment after spending all day decorating for a friend but sick of taking tramadol. Its times like this that I really miss the pain numbing effects of alcohol :-(

Feel your pain Nailit, I was on codeine for a few days a couple of weeks back.
I was given Laxido (orange flavour powder made into a drink) by the doc and told to take it at least twice a day morning and lunchtime to keep everything moving on through. Every day mind.
Still had to send out for suppositories though.
Don't forget plenty of other fluids too.

I think it's just a side effect of strong drugs, I'm told morphine does the same.

Good luck with it all.
ibuprofen shouldnt ( constipate )
Different meds react differently on different people, take your pain relief as prescribed if possible and take Laxido until you get the right balance to ease the constipation. Laxido is excellent, buy it over the counter and take as much as required within the limits on the directions and talk to your GP for advice.
Also keep moving and take lots of fluids and high fibre foods will help.
Magnesium citrate can help you "go"...
Nailit - please please buy "pure bran" (brown wheat stuff) - in Hollands & Barr. Just put it in to anything you can down. milk, yougurts, cereals, - it is simply brilliant.

Theeee best thing I have ever bought. I do only use it when I am very constipated. But it is brilliant. good luck
I am a great fan of Senna, I know some think it's too harsh but when I was on the cocktail of Tramadol/Codeine/Ibuprofen it worked for me and is natural.

My GP is also happy to prescribe them.
