Ouch!!! For the last 2 years or so, I've really suffered with a bunion on my right foot. Probably years of wearing stupidly ridiculous (but very lovely) shoes. Just bought one of those splints. No idea if they work.

Anyone else suffer? What's been your solution?

You really don't like strong women do you Mikey?
OH did wear winklepicker shoes in his youth
Mikey - are you addressing me or just saying 'ummmm'?
From the nhs site..." the cause of bunions is UNKNOWN "
It says not to wear pointy toed shoes...but not that they are the cause.
Welcome to the club mikey.......Islay uses that phrase "you don't like strong women" not infrequently.
I was "annointed" years ago and often wondered if she meant female weight lifters or female disc throwers.
But she doesn't mikey, so again i say......."welcome to the club."
Sqad...the way you speak about women and the way Mikey does is completely different.
Ummm...my apologies...that post was meant for Eccles.

Sqad....normally I ignore Islay, and I think I shall again from now on !
mikey ...lol.....LOl....it's not easy......LOL.
Sqad....what is your measured opinion on the major cause of bunions ?

And are you able to confirm that many more women suffer from them, then men ?
My wee wife suffered for years, Barmaid, eventually went under the knife and has never looked back.
Mikey is the puppet master pulling your strings again?
Sqad you don't like me because I won't feed your fetish unlike some others here and talk about knickers and silk and worship at your feet!
Barmaid i do apologise for diverting from your bunions but I hope you can forgive me as I was dealing with some other annoying useless lumps!
mikey......no doubt about the direct association between tight fitting shoes and bunions. I was taught that back in the 50's and that still remains a major cause. There are of course other causes, but female shoe fashion is the major one.
Islay....LOL...LOL.....nothing would feed my fetish more than to see you kneeling in front of me in silk knickers.............
shudddderrr
Sqad...as I thought.....that is settled then !
I can't, I just cant. :-)
Eeuuuwwww!

OK, so it was *** shoes that caused it. But not that bothered what caused it was more interested in others and their experiences. Because ultimately I dont have a time machine and I cant undo the *** shoes.
Shoes may have some bearing on it but wife's more of a desert boots and trainers kinda gal, except for weddings and the like. :)

Im glad that the other half got relief from surgery, Douglas. Doesnt matter what it was caused by, despite my question, fact is, how does one get relief and it seems that surgery is the best cure as said by you, Angie, other posters and our resident consultant.
