Lift Out Of Bath

i had a hand rail that was helpful, but now have a walk in shower.

how does the hand rail help - you know how hard it is to get up to your own feet etc

it is too cold to take bath out at this time of the weather - maybe in the summer and with good workmen. I do like my bath. Do like the blew up seater thingmajig. - think i would liike that that.

JJ it might be worth looking into whether you can get an occupational therapy assessment from your local council or see if your doctor can put you in touch with one from health. They can make suggestions about what would be helpful to you and what would not. Aids that get wet, like the inflatable seat type things or the chair looking ones that go up and down, do need a lot of care between uses to ensure that they dry of properly and any residual soap and hard water deposits are cleaned away...its a bit of a minefield....

I do agree with Woofgang , a proper assessment of what you need is the starting point.

Until then, if you don't feel safe getting in and out, then don't do it.

Ask at GP's Surgery for either a referral or if they have details.

JJ, I was referred to Occupational Health by my GP, and they came here and were offering me all sorts of stuff....wanted me to have a wheely trolley thing with trays on it, I did have a perching stool, thought that would help with ironing, but it didn't. They did put something round the toilet which makes it easier to use, and said I could have grab rails wherever I wanted, but just had one next to bath.V useful. They should be coming again soon, I need that step in porch to be made a ramp or at least to have couple of grab rails in porch.

Baths, I wasn't being snotty...if jj contacts her council or doc and asks for a referral to occupational health, they will think she is crazy.

J J, when they came here they were wanting me to have all sorts of inflatable things for bath, I suspect it was because it was March and they were trying to get rid of their budget! Don't be buying stuff, get them to provide it, you've paid for it already.
