Daughter Part 2 For Sqad's Input....
3 Answers
Thought it would be better presented as a separate thread rather than an addendum to the first question a few weeks back. Excuse me for this
A follow up, Sqad, as my daughter is with me now and it's been possible to get at what has been going on.
1. She was in a car accident when a drunk side-swiped them, she the passenger....didn't go to hospital (idiot bus issues with her mother....) and I think she has twisted a verterbra mid-back and that's causing issues - she's seeing a doc at the practice I use and my sis is 'volunteering' two or three sessions with her chiro.
2. The 'UTI' - has had a very nasty rash from her thighs down - abating now but she described it as wanting to amputate her legs (allow for a 19 year old's exaggeration) - didn't make the torso or the genitals though. Photo as attached http:// thumbsn ap.com/ WgAqZ3V 0
Associated with it, still some coughing of blood, weight losss (10 pounds) and occasional hot flush (103F max)
Additional info though, she was working alongside the Nat Guard in Houston during the hurricane and was up to her thighs in water. I have asked about snake bites (no), but I am wondering if she has been 'bitten' by something (insect etc) and a lot of this stems back to this - the timing being that the kick-off was around Hurricane Harvey.
3. She also is slightly lactose intolerant - and I'm am wondering if she's eating some unpastuerised cheeses/butter etc in Israel and this has been exacerbated by the above situation in that the body defences have been 'weakened'.
Grateful as always for your thoughts - I have a appt for her next Wednesday. My best dtc

The skin rash looks very much like a drug sensitivity, but i do not know which drug she is on and if so ,was it for her UTI.
I think that we can rule out a bite, for her symptoms, malaria, being a rank outsider.
The symptoms are those of a pneumonic process...pneumonia of some sort and she needs a chest X-Ray and blood tests, to sort this out.
i think that the RTA and period in Houston waters are red herrings.
Vibrio would be less likely than malaria as a diagnosis..BUT never say never in medicine.
Remember sqad's motto in medicine " Commonest things occur commonest" and i still feel that we should go down the road of pneumonia and perhaps with the help of blood tests.
Interesting...keep me informed.
