100 Push-Ups A Day

So my friend challenged me to do 100 push ups a day until the end of January. Is that safe for a girl my age (14)? Should I reduce it to 50 push-ups a day? Also do I need to balance those push-ups with any kind of leg excersize (if so, what?) Im sort of a worry wart, and I don’t want to put my body or health at risk, so any suggestions or whatever would be nice. Thanks!

If you can do 100 press ups in one go you are doing very well. It won't do you any harm. Why you would want to though is beyond me! :o}

^well it’s definitely not in one go. I think I’m going to do 10 push-ups 10 Times a day to reduce the difficulty a little. Also it’s more of a dare, it’s not something I particularly want to do. I’m just too stubborn not to accept the challenge :P
That's fine. Go for it! You'll probably have stiff muscles at the start, but that will go as you progress. Good luck! :o}

Thanks :D
I gather from your post that you are not from these shores. Are you American? In the UK we call them press-ups.
Morning jack. Already pointed that out. :o}
" Is that safe for a girl my age (14)? "

It might be OR it might not be........the only way to find out is to try.
You have given us no indication of your present health...weight (are you overweight?), have you any underlying medical conditions ( that you know about?).
If you are doing just for a bet, then it is stupid, however in my opinion it is ridiculous and may....just may...be dangerous.
"Also it’s more of a dare, it’s not something I particularly want to do."

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.

Hereditary heart condition which often goes undiagnosed but may rarely cause sudden death, particularly in teenagers and young athletes.
Yes it is rare, but would you take the risk for a dare?

If you don't want to do something, then don't. Your friend isn't to know anyway. Exercise as you feel is right for you. Don't push beyond what you feel is stretching enough.
Is your friend proposing to do the same, and in your presence ? Letting yourself be bullied into this (if that is the implied reality) is, to me at least, rather moronic.
if you're reasonably fit and healthy already, go for it. If it feels uncomfortable, do fewer or stop.

Personally I have always used Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy as an excuse for doing no exercise at all.

I am of average build and weight, and am healthy. As for the challenge, I was not bullied into it, my friends would never do that. I could back out anytime I want and they wouldn’t give me a hard time about it. Also I have decided that I’m too lazy to do 100 a day, so I’m just gonna do 50. Also yes, I am American.
