Hi!

I'm in a bit of a state just now. I'm overdue with my smear test and now completely panicking and thinking the worst.
I have had 2 children over the last 4 years and time has really just run away with me.
I know it's smear test awareness week so this is why it's come to the forefront of my mind.
I have booked a test for Tuesday and suddenly the test isn't scary at all. I'm terrified of the wait for the results :(
I keep googling and reading all these awful stories and wanting to cry.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom? X

I don't know if this helps, but taking 1,000 smears, only one will diagnose cancer. O.K?

Yes, stop googling and stop worrying.
Yes - well done on booking the test and to a point we all worry about the result (some more than others).

You deal with that when or if it happens. Stop Googling stories.

Please come back and let us know how you went on.

At least you are sensible enough to be thinking about it. Please don't worry just get it out of the way and out of your things to do list
Waiting for any results can be stressful. Try to put it out of your mind and relax.
As Sqad has pointed out the chance of you having cancer detected on your smear is remote.

Well done for getting it done in any case.
I think Sqad's post is very reassuring.
^^^ yes it is. Just go for the smear and stop worrying, once you've done it you have done everything you can do so relax. I'm rather hoping I've now got past the age for smears, but 10 years ago I thought that - and then the age-limit was pushed back! Having had some unexpected bleeding about 6 yrs. ago, I was sent for investigations and ultra-sound etc., but it all turned out to be nothing serious and righted itself. :)
