Malnutrition
36 Answers
My dr suspects that I am suffering from this and has taken a whole heap of bloods to confirm it.
Does anyone know the long term effect of malnutrition and what the treatment is.
TBH I was a bit shocked as I kinda assumed this was something the people suffering in a famine area got.

Apparently, malnutrition is not uncommon after bariatric surgery. It makes sense that the body can't absorb as many nutrients as it needs. Have you been prescribed any supplements? https://www. verywell.com /malnutritio n-after-gast ric-bypass-s urgery-31568 76

Hi! Islay.
Malnutrition is a wide term used loosely by many people, but in your case it may well indicate the possibility of certain vitamins e.g B12, or Vitamins,or indeed certain trace elements. Anaemia is another side effect.
Don't get too hung up on this Islay as further test may give a clue and replacement therapy solving your problems.

Oh Islay, I know you must have had some shock when Dr's told you about the malnutrition but would you believe I had it about 4 years ago, I don't know how it happened but I remember my public health nurse (as I live alone) came in daily to check my eating and what could be put in and taken out of my diet, after a few weeks I had a much better blood reading, I was shocked and knowing me I wasn't gonna tell my family, they'd think it was a late april fool joke I was so shocked, I was getting too many infections and not really eating well and what I was eating was just something quick as i was too tired and feeling like pulled through the ringer, that's how my malnutrition was detected, an underlying problem
Excellent idea, drink gin.
I may go and buy wine - if only to stave off malnutrition. :)
Seriously though Islay as others and our esteemed consultant have said, try not to worry. and stay away from Dr Google. I have heard of this in the elderly (I am not being offensive about your age) and it is remedied with supplements.
