mormons??

do mormons still knock on doors?? i have been in this house 18 years and have never seen one..not that i want to ...i worked with a mormon in 1995 and she had the cheek to bring a bible into the staff room..so i put it in the bin! and thats the last mormon i have seen..they must be avoiding me!!

I live in Dunfermline in Scotland and yes they still do knock on doors. I frequently see two together walking the streets of the town. Having said that in my present house I have not been bothered, or by Jehovah's Witnesses either!

I haven't seen any for years mullein but they did call occasionally at one time. I have to say they were always very polite, didn't stay more than a couple of minutes & were in no way persistent or pushy. (oh & they were very smart & good looking - makes answering the door worthwhile!)

The Jehovas witnesses however come round too regularly & I'm afraid don't get many people to answer the doors (we all warn each other). Each to his own but please don't push your beliefs onto others I say.

they were allways dressed in black if i remember right..and usually americans over here as missionarys.....gee a church with no windows i wonder what they are hiding??that would fuel my imagination..or is it because they are scared of someone putting a brick through?

I once had to go through a bag which was handed in as lost property. The labels clearly showed that it belonged to one of the 'men in black' who had passed our way shortly before (on their way to a conference). Inside the top part of bag there were all the expected items. A bible, missionary leaflets, basic toiletries, plain clothes, etc. Indeed everything that you might expect in a bag belonging to someone who had decided to forsake life's luxuries and devote his life to converting sinners. Inside the bottom part of the bag I found a CD player, a PlayStation, several 'adult' magazines and a packet of condoms!

buenchico...what you found in that bag is what i believe in they are hypocrites like the jw lot...about 23 years ago we lived on anglesey by the beach..anyway to cut a long story short..we were invited to a beach picnic by a workman we had come to know...anyway they were all mormons ..and i dont mind what anyone is as long as they leave me out of it..well i was sat on this beach dieing for a ciggarette ...they dont smoke!! well istarted to notice a couple of them slip away..so i investigated...so i lit a ciggarette up and all these hostile eyes swivelled on me...so i said i dont know what you lot are looking at as their are two of you having a crafty ciggarette behind the sand dune...so they all looked bashfull....i didnt get a second invite to a picnic!!!

We used to have the Mormons in my area, but have not seen them much lately.

Why did you find it necessary to put the Bible in the bin? Would you have done the same if it had been the Koran or a girlie mag?

I don't agree with the Mormon religion, but I do resoect their right to read the Bible.

I think there are far more offensive things left in Staff Rooms than Bibles. No-one made you read it.

electrochem...the staff room was for having a rest between shifts..not for someone expecting us to read bibles..if it was for her own use fair enough but it wasnt...also she expected every sunday off.as it was her church day at first they gave it her till i made a stand and demanded it off also..then they made her work on sundays..i dont agree with people trying to convert others i believe in free will..

You say you were expected to read the Bible mullein 3. As the person you refer to is a Mormon, it would probably have been the Book of Mormon and not the Bible, but that is not the valid point here.

In what way were you expected to read this book?

I believe in free will also, but I have to realise that having that right means I have to respect the free will of others to carry religious books and leave tracts etc. at various places.
