My Hubby Update

we were told he had cancer in his good kidney and bladder but the junior doctor got it wrong, it's in his duff kidney ,the growth is mainly in the tube connecting kidney to his bladder so they are removing the kidney and a small piece of bladder .we were both so relieved when we got these results it could have been so much worse, it looks like it was caught early .he has the op about 6 weeks time then 6 weeks doing nothing .they will biopsy the bladder part again but the doctor was quite happy that things will be ok .i did say it frightened the life out of us when told it was his good kidney and he apologised .

yes i was really cross but the relief outweighed the anger ,the consultant said junior doc didn't know her left from right so it sounds like she may have got a telling off .

I did wonder why a junior was telling your husband he had incurable cancer - you should write to an administrator and say the reason why it shojld be a consultant is that a
'whoops no it is OK - sozza about that - is the football on?' is less likely to occur.

Sqad may say - oo no consultants are too busy doing good in the Hospital and elsewhere to bother with cancer diagnoses and treatment for each patient. No - in the modern day - they aren't.

I meant to add it's great that the prognosis isn't as bad as you feared.

A Consultant should ALWAYS tell the patient about a malignancy.....and if he is not available, then it would be a registrar, senior if possible. Never a junior.
The problem is that today, anyone other than a consultant is called a junior...........however.....the bottom line is that it is good news.

I noticed that the "junior" was female....and you all know how i feel about female doctors.....;-)
