I was reading something you were saying about hypnotists etc so i hope you dont mind me asking you a little question. recently i have been thinking about getting hypnotherapy to stop biting my nails (i have tried everything else -last resort) but im not sure if it would work. i have used relaxation tapes before which use hypnosis (i think) and they worked quite well but when i went to see a hypnotist show thingy that bit when you clasp your hands didnt work. so do you think hypnotherapy is a good idea for me?

The short answer is YES!!! the reason the hand clasp thingy didnt work is because you did'nt want to make a fool of youself in front of others,(your peers, friends etc). However, as you have tried tapes that seemed to work I would suggest you try a good hypnotherapist.

Some things to ensure for your own peace of mind:-

  1. Ensure that the therapist belongs to a registered body, ie National School of Advanced Hypnotherapists (the organisation I belong to)

  2. The therapist MUST have a Diploma in Psychotherapy.

  3. As it is a postgraguate qualification, the therapist should be educated to at least Degree level, mine is BA Hist (Hons)

  4. You should not see the therapist more than once, if he/she says you need several appointments then he/she is only after your hard earned cash.

I hope all goes well for you, please let me know how you ge on, my email is:- [email protected]

Kind Regards
