For some time I have been feeling fatigued/lethargic a lot of the time. Ive never slept very well but this feels more than just some sleep deprivation. I had to attend a meeting this afternoon and it took all I had to prevent me from closing my eyes and going sleep. Also feel short of breath and occasionally nauseous (on the bus home I nearly had to get off because I felt disorientated and sick) Have checked my blood pressure and that seems to be ok.
I haven't drank for some time, I'm not currently smoking and I'm eating a diet high in veg, fruit and salads. I'm drinking loads of water and avoiding caffeine.
I'm doing all the right things and feel like cr @p.
Any ideas what to do?
Thanks.

I had all the same symptoms during pregnany and it turned out I was anaemic.
Question Author
I can assure you NoM, I'm not pregnant ;-)
nailit you could get 100 opinions on here... only way to find out whats wrong ..see your doctor m8
Question Author
Sorry, finding it hard to keep up with everyone replies.
MM & Tills, yes, Ill try to get in to see GP ASAP.
Garaman, I think that these things I'm feeling are more physical than mental,
Question Author
Thanks Volty, yes I know m8, I will have to try and get to see a GP. Just wanted to hear what others might have to say.
Depression can make you horribly lethargic, I know. The sudden change of diet could have put your body into 'defence' (best I can describe it. I echo all the other pleas to go and see a doctor. If you can't get an appointment fairly soon, say a week, then go to a walk-in centre.
We're all saying the same thing...Doctors!
Do you get much exercise, Nailit? I think lethargy makes people lethargic.
What was the outcome of that other problem you had ; where you were finding it difficult to get an appointment with your GP ?
Might that have anything to do with your current problem ?
Question Author
I understand what people are saying about fatigue and depression. Ive had (suicidal) depression on and off for years, but this lethargy is definetly different from that. Mentally, Ive been in a fairly good place for the past few months, but my body is in a different place. I'm permanently knackered.

Naomi, I cycle and walk. Not a gym bunny by any means but I'm not idle.
Bazile, not sure which post you are referring too, had loads of times when its been a lottery whether you can actually get to see a doctor or not....
Just another thought...Nicotine withdrawal? When did you give up smoking?
No, but you might be anaemic ;-)
Question Author
Sorry NoM, I was a bit tongue in cheek with my reply. Yes, I suppose I could be. Guess a bag of spinach a week just doesn't cut it ;-)
(I'm not Popeye after all)
Tills, I smoke on and off. Sometimes buy a pack of (knocked off) fags when feeling a bit stressed. Havnt had a cig for a few weeks now, currently chewing on nicotine gums.
That'll be it...too much nicotine in the gum.
Question Author
will have to start smoking fags again then Tills :-)
Have you had any blood tests on your liver lately?
Also feel short of breath

Could also be your ticker, nailit. Irregular heart beat, mind you the doc will arrange an ECG if he / she thinks that you have.
Nailit - you say you've been okay for the last few months but you weren't at the end of March.

Fatigue can be caused by so many things.
A visit to gp , obvious next step .
