Oral Contraceptive Pill Norethisterone

After a trip to my GP today, I have been taken off of my regular contraceptive Rigevidon (after about nine years) and put on the mini-pill Norethisterone.
I am 42 and a bit heavier (fat) than recommended & recently my BP has increased- possibly due to stress & other health worries. Although an ambulatory BP monitor last summer was 100% fine.

Firstly, despite my concerns about changing, I don't know why they were insistent that the risks out-weighed the benefits.
Secondly, one of the side effects of this new pill, can be increase in blood pressure?!
It also advises to be cautious if you have ever suffered depression ( I was on seroxat AD in my mid-twenties). This new pill seems so wrong to me on so many levels.
I also don't like the idea of not knowing if & when you may have a period or spotting - terribly inconvenient!
Has anyone any experience of Norethisterone?

Shall I start taking it & give it the benefit of the doubt or just take my chances without any pill?
I'm going away in August & DO NOT want to be worried about periods.

Norethisterone is not a contraceptive pill as far as i know

It's Norethisterone 350mg but trade name as Noriday.

I’m on it works quite well. You’ll get the odd bleed now and again but no adverse side effects and no problems with BP and no effect on my Anxiety etc.

That's helpful to know. I made the mistake of searching online & loads of negative reviews popped up, predominantly from mumsnet..
I'll see how I go & try to remain positive & not pre-judge.

I used to be on Noriday. The nurse was concerned about my blood pressure and was umming and aahing about whether to give me a new prescription for the full Pill. Never mind the fact that having a baby could cause me more harm.
I just said I used to be on Noriday so she prescribed that. I saw someone else later who put me back on the full one, which is what I wanted and have always been fine with.

No problem. I ended up on a Noriday because of Migraines. But in all honesty...I’ve been on many pills - this one is the one that works best for me!

I try not to read too much about things unless i need to. But good luck!
