Female sanitary products are to be given to women on low incomes in Scotland. About time too, after all these things are not luxuries but necessities, If men had to put up with this every month something would have been done years ago.

Yes completely, there are a few charities that put together monthly bags for homeless women in the UK and abroad as well, which is something which I'm sure they so appreciate x

Where I live the family planning clinic has been giving them out for as long as I remember, also condoms.

Its bloody disgraceful that VAT is also on these items - they are expensive as it is - the ones that I buy are £5.70 for 36 or £4.50 if on special offer

I often think the same thing when I have the general examination for breast cancer. It is extremely painful, and if men had to put their penis in a crushing machine as a similar test for cancer, a new system would have been devised many, many years ago.

Jk men do have to have mammograms but its usually when cancer has already been more or less diagnosed....its very painful for them as mostly the have so little breast tissue to manipulate.

PS I agree about vat and towels and tampons. There is a nationwide charity called the Red Box Project who put supplies and underwear and tights into schools so girls can continue to attend school without embarassment or using rags

Woofgang, I do appreciate that men can develop breast cancer, and I take your point about how much more painful it must be, but quoting cancer.org, ‘Breast cancer is about 100 times less common among men than among women.’ I stick to my point.

I just dislike to hear that statement being made as though men, in general don’t care if women suffer when its something that doesn’t affect men. I think its facile, unkind and untrue.

I suppose the highly skilled female engineers and medics at large could apply themselves to this long-standing problem and avoid the need to point-score, gender wise.

Jenny - I am brilliant at these squeezing of the breasts - I walk it to my surprise. But when they do the smears - forget it. Jesus Weeps. I don't get any done as a matter of fact - received a reminder today. I can't face them - so so so painful.
