Last night I passed out which I have never in my life done before. I got out the bath, put my bath robe on and as I was walking to my bedroom I started feeling weak and dizzy, had blurred vision and ringing in my ears. I went and sat on my bed with a bin near me as I thought I was going to throw up. Next thing I remember, I was kneeling on the floor not knowing where I was or what had happened. It took me a several seconds before I realised I'd passed out. Don't know how long I was out for but it really shook me.

What could've caused it?

Sudden drop in BP when standing after being in a lying position would be my best guess.

It's happened to me before. My legs have given way and I've crumpled in a heap on the floor after spending a penny in the middle of the night.

Make sure you stay hydrated.
There could be so many reasons for this and I'm afraid that the account that you have given is inadequate, that nobody could make a reasonable guess as to the cause.
My advice......no need to see a Dr at the moment, just monitor the situation for the next couple of weeks and if there is a recurrence then see your GP.
NoM has given you a reasonable explanation.
Low BP.

I've felt faint before after getting out of a hot bath but never actually passed out.

I've also had a couple of days off work and been mostly lounging about and eating leftover buffet food from Monday. I didn't go into work today as I still feel a bit queezy. Maybe I should've drunk more water.
Drink lots.
Question Author
Yes, I've been sipping loads of water today.

Might book myself an appointment for a BP check.

Thanks
It happens to me a lot and has nothing to do with low BP - currently under investigation with GP - it concerned mention it to them.
A hot bath makes the blood vessels expand which causes the blood pressure to fall so you got postural hypotension when you got out. Maybe take it slowly and sit on the side of the bath for a few minutes before walking away

I have felt a bit faint after having a hot bath before but never passed out. I will take more care in future though.
ahhh, is this why i get a bit dizzy and faint when the jacuzzi is hot....
have you considered not heating the swimming pool, fluff? You can still fill it with prosecco.

Booked myself an appointment for Tuesday after work. Earliest time available at my surgery.

Still feeling a bit nauseous so not gone into work again.
tigger it takes me days to get over a fainting fit - I feel rank for a good 5 days afterwards
Question Author
I'm just discovering that now, Islay. I've got a bit of a headache along with the nausea and I felt a bit dizzy earlier as well.
tigger..........I agree with all the explanations EXCEPT the symptom you describe of "ringing in the ears."
This is not typical of "fainting."
Try flat coke - settles my stomach so much
Try reducing the the temperature of the bath water .
Question Author
I don't know how else to describe it Sqad.
tigger......i am not criticising your description, but the fact that it doesn't fit into the picture of postural hypotension.
However your GP will question you more thoroughly.
