Jenny, Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are completely different diseases. One does not morph in to the other.
Type 1 diabetics cannot produce insulin and their condition can never be managed without taking insulin.
Type 2 diabetics do produce insulin but their system cannot respond properly to it, and so produces more but not enough.
There are other types of diabetes which you don't need to worry about.
