Could I Have A Faulty Blood Sugar Meter?

I tested my blood sugar this morning and it was 9.3 I took my diabetic meds, Jardiance and metformin and then checked it an hour later I was shocked it was 19.3 the only thing I had for breakfast was 2 slices of toast and honey and a coffee with milk it seems ridicolus that it can jump as high as that. Does anyone know if meters can be faulty I have a trueyou blood glucose meter. I would be running to the loo all the time and very thirsty surely if it was that high.

Well, it COULD be a faulty meter......BUT....... a more likely scenario is that:

Early morning reading of 9.3, then tablets, then breakfast (toast and honey)followed be a reading of 19.3 would suggest that your diabetes needs reassuring. Take another blood sugar reading in a couple of hours and let us know of the result.

I checked it and it is back down to 8.1

geordie........unless you have been advised otherwise and you are not using Insulin, then just test you blood once a day e.g in the late afternoon before your evening meal.
That will stop you panicking about high readings.

could you have put honey on the test strip accidently I have tested high when I forgot to wash hands after a meal.

Why on earth are you having toast and honey? They are carbs...and convert to sugar. (sorry...honey IS sugar)
Try having some protein instead...eggs for instance.
