It happens pasta....it happens.....get used to it.
so sorry Pasta....you learn to deal with it but you never do get used to it
Such a waste Pasta isn't it?
When you get to the point you stop caring and get used to it move on. I used to nurse a lot of young people in itu, overdoses, and acute liver failure. You never get used to it. I expect if I sat down I could remember all the young ones. They were so often the impulsive act that came to us too late.
You appear a kind person pasta please " don't get used to it " . I'm sorry your client has died .
Pasta......I've had a lovely few days marred a little by the number of homeless people I came across....one lady in particular. I could buy her food and something to drink....but I couldn't cure her addiction or do anything else to help her.

Life is unkind...but it's the bloody frustration of not being able to fix everything that gets to me.....x
You won't get used to it, you will just learn to deal with it differently maybe focussing on what changes can be made , what learning can be gained, that way you don't allow the death to be such a terrible waste, something good can come from it in small ways.
Pasta think of all the ones you have saved, and think on the highs not the lows. Easy to say but you are doing a grand and often understated job
So sad to hear this. Life is indeed unkind.

Sqad...yes "it happens", but after 9 years in this job and seeing so many young, wasted lives, I don't intend to 'get used to it'. If I, and others did that, there would be no one to care about these people. If only the others who are left behind could learn from it...
pasta......i am NOT asking you not to care, as that is essential, but i AM asking you to get used to it. If you don't and each death registers, then it will take a toll on you.....and then who would look after the clients?
pasta fine...don't get used to it, let each one eat your heart out.......
you should react, good to see you doing so.

What I would call a gin and tonic day, a good long drink at home and relax a little...tomorrow is another day and someone else will need your care.
Depends what job you do though. In some jobs (medical, police etc) you are probably exposed to more deaths than others so can partially expect it.
I am sorry to hear this Pasta
suicide marks the by standers indelibly
Very sad. You do an excellent job. Thank you for caring. x
So sorry to hear this Pasta, life can be unkind but think of all the people you stop from doing this, you make a real difference and it's good that you care and that they have you to x
I have been a nursery nurse for 25 years, looking after babies and pre-school aged children.
In that time I have known 5 deaths. 2 went with meningitis, 1 SID, 1 fall and 1 hung himself on a window blind cord.
All such sad tragedies for anybody who knew the families.
Question Author
Sqad...these deaths don't "eat my heart out"...they do point out the waste of life when unloved, aimless, and vulnerable young lives cross paths with alcohol, street drugs, and whatever else is "on offer".
PP...it wasn't suicide...more likely very bad company.
That is very sad Pasta, such a tragic end.
