I Did Look In Search, But There's 300+ Entries

so I've brought my question here without looking at them all because mine will of course be special. DVT.

Right leg slightly swollen 3 weeks ago, rang 101 for advice and they sent me ambulance straight away. Was admitted after 6hr wait in Casualty..(they weren't even busy!!) and was told they were waiting till Tues for me to have an ultrasound. (Must've been Bank Hol Weekend!)
So far have had 3 ultrasounds,no DVT found on any of them. I went to see GP and she sent for urgent scan, but one that scans the pelvis as well.
Still have leg 3x wider than other, and have appt for different type of ultrasound on Thurs, but this right leg is still getting fatter.
Any advice please.

Phaq phaq phaq.....why have I not heard of lymphoedema until now? Have learnt about it thanks to a few kind and helpful folk not in white coats.

*breaking news* Have now got shallow breathing cos muscles I used to pick myself up from falls are now v painful. Am glad I'm going to ultrasound clinic on Thurs...if any ambulance people see this thigh they'll have me off for 6hr wait in Casualty.

and it is obviously secondary to your original diagnosis ....

Eek!! GP's receptionist has just phoned saying the doc wants to see me re latest scan results. I explained my mobility problems re getting to surgery, and the doc said "no problem, I shall do a home visit">>>>>that's a lie. She will book me in for a telephone consultation on Friday.

Lymphodema is more than just swelling of the legs.
It can cause extreme painful infections and ulcers make moving about very difficult and unless kept under control can move onto elephantitis.
Whilst waiting for your doctor to get his finger out - try and get hold of some compression stockings to keep the swelling at bay, do not shave or wax your legs and be careful if you are keen on gardening any cuts or scrapes are lethal to those that suffer this.

Thanks Rockrose. I did have a green pair of those to wear for a month after hysterectomy. No point looking for them...they'll be well gone by now. I wouldn't mind wearing some more, cos I'm housebound now. I shall ask Doc what she thinks on Friday.

So, we gave her clinical depression, cancer of lady bits ,strokes, and now we'll throw in liver cancer, just to liven things up a bit!

It's almost funny isn't it? In fact we have had a few chuckles about it, don't go buying any LPs etc. Can't think of any more but I know there's loads.
