Watching a programme anorexic ladies I am struck by how these ladies are treated with sympathy and caring and how there is help out there for them. But when it comes to obesity you are told to eat less and move more and are treated with complete derision.

Many people who have had bariatric surgery are unable to deal with the loose skin they get as a result and the NHS won't remove it. It's not just unsightly but can cause discomfort and infections and hinder exercise. I can understand anyone putting weight on, it's so easy to do for most of us but the morbidly obese have other issues either psychiatric, emotional...

Woofgang, you may give up but most of us know people who are overweight and are often quite familiar with the reason behind it.

Oh dear, Just as I was going to expound on my theory of selfishness. Thought it was the decent thing to do. Don't think I'll bother now. Jeeeez

I'm no great friend of RockRose - I think our relationship wanders between mutual respect at best and armed neutrality at worst - but I must take exception on her behalf to some of the unwarranted slurs being waved around on the last page .

I've never heard her (on here, or elsewhere online, or indeed in person) make any of the 'easy way out' excuses about her obesity - and I have nothing but admiration for the way she has tackled her obesity with bariatric surgery.

It's so easy to criticise from a position of ignorance - pixels are cheap, but the wounds you can do with careless use of them can be very deep.

A voice in the wilderness! lol
I agree with Dave. RR was very strong and inspiration to others during her journey.
sunny-dave, as far as I can see no one has attacked Rockrose with slurs - unwarranted or otherwise - and I have no idea how well she's done or otherwise. In response to her OP we're discussing obesity and anorexia.

What journey? She's only been here a few months.

I wondered the same thing ?
What concerns me and makes me sad is when you see the whole family, including little children, grossly overweight. Surely, surely the childrens obesity must be sending alarm bells to their parents ?
I don't think it is a big secret that Rockrose has been on this forum under a different (now 'user-inactive') name earlier where she was very candid about her weight-loss journey.

It's a shame that some people would rather snipe about the messenger rather than the message.

I have seen recent photographs of Rockrose and can say that she deserves huge congratulations for the determination she has shown and for the results.
it's grim how little respect people can have for other genuine human beings
