I have arthritis in, my neck, shoulders, spine, lower back, knees, hands, and its certainly gotten worse over the last year, my husband is 73 and has to help me dress and wash my lower half, and do a lot of the things, I can no longer do very well, he is retired, I dont work due to ill health, do you think we can claim any benefits, apart from our top up of pension credit, as we struggle financially, and wondered if anyone else is in a similar position and gets help

There is Attendance Aloowance which you might be able claim Fruitsalad.
When you fill the form in make sure you cite your symptoms on your very worst day if they vary, as the criteria for it is quite high. x

Would echo what kvalidir said. If you can, get help to fill in the form from either a welfare benefits organisation or Citizens Advice Bureau. They fill in these forms day in day out and can take the pressure out of trying to answer correctly. Good luck.

Sounds like you are in a similar position to me fruit. I receive PIP and get enhanced rate mobility and enhanced rate care. As others have said, when filling in the form do it as if it's your worst day.

If he is looking after you full time, you might be able to claim a carers allowance for him. My step dad cares for my Mum full time as she is getting older and less mobile, she has arthritis, ME and other medical problems and he gets a full carers allowance for her.
