Yes.Women are fertile for a short period but if she has released two eggs during her cycle then both eggs can be indepentently fertilised.

It would be a multiple birth but surely it wouldn't be twins!. They would only be half brother or sister.

Think that was the drift maggie.Of course they would only be half siblings.

I think stu wanted to know if it was naturally possible - which of course it is.

Hm.. what is the definition of twins here? If the definition of twins here is that the mom gives birth to them at one shot, then ya, it is possible for twins to have different father. Of course the mother would have to be seeing two men at the same time.

On the other hand, genetically speaking, identical twins come from the same ovum and same sperm which means they look alike and share the same sex, whereas fraternal twins come from different ovums and different sperms which could allow them to look different and have different sex. The possibility of having different fathers in the second case is possible, at least in theory. I'd like to see that in reality though.

I'm sure it's happened more than our puritanical society would like it to have.

Buddy I understood what you were saying about two eggs being fertilised, but Stu was asking if it was possible for TWINS to have different fathers. Thats why I said that technically, they would not really be twins.

Did you know that as mamy as 1 in 5 babies are nott the natural child of who the mother says is the father. Thats scary innit.

Really what kind of slapper has unprotected with sex two different men to be able for this to happen... actually I can think of a few.

nice to see prejudice is still alive and kicking!

Yes it is true. I saw a programme about cats and it said it can have kittens by different fathers during the same birth. That is why you often see different colours of kittens. So if cats can do it then I cannot see why humans can't do it.
