Thanks to the lovely weather recently just been wondering about exposure needed to be beneficial.
That is actual skin exposure.
I know 10 to 15 mins is good but how much actual skin is necessary for the sunlight to be absorbed.
Can't find anything on line.
I have been sitting in sun but with jumper still on, so only head and hands exposed. Too early to start stripping!
Am I wasting my time? Although it is very enjoyable.

Roll up your sleeves and trouser legs. :-)
Are you talking about absorption of Vitamin D or sunbathing for a tan?
10-15mins is enough exposure to give you plenty of Vit.D for your body needs......in fact most people get enough Vit.D from diet, without sunshine.
If you are concerned about tanning, then it depends upon where you are and which part of the year that your are sunbathing.

Seems to be pretty much what you'd expect, the more skin open to the sunlight the more Vit D - as the weather gets milder, shorter sleeves and bare legs will increase exposure.

But even just being out on such a bonny day is good.
I burn even in this sunshine after 10 minutes so have to wear sunscreen all year! I am deficient in vitamin D so take tablets to boost it.
From a source online which i'm not sure how trust worthy.. It says "Lots of skin"

Spath American company trying to sell their test kits and vitamin tablets cynical me thinks.
They may be trying to sell something but the answer is as stated - the more skin exposed the more Vitamin D - just use caution for skin type and temp/location.
We all agree then.
Seem to Lynne. Is this answerbank I'm logged into?

Thanks for the good answers. Much appreciated.
You all deserve Best Answer.
I am not ,or ever have been, a sun worshipper for the sake of a tan.Too fair skinned.
And I am not D deficient, thankfully, but I do enjoy seeing the sun and like to sit out for a bit in it.
The legs and arms will get a bit more exposure when it gets reliable.
As for now will just enjoy the nice warm feeling.
