Macular Degeneration

I have just been diagnosed with above, wet kind in left eye with blood showing behind the eye and dry kind in right eye. Have an urgent referral to the Hospital for the left eye, not sure what happens next with that one, is is injections I wonder. Anyone else have it on here, I have been told it normally progresses slowly, so I can drive for the time being although I will need a letter from the Optician.

I don't have it but can vouch for the efficiency of numbing drops given before invasive eye treatments.

Is it age-related or diabetic in your case?

Wet type is treatable, dry type isn't.

Treatment includes Intravitreal injections with Eylea or Lucentis, probably as part of a treat and extend regime. Surgical or implant options can be explored if IVJs are inefficacious.

Age related, my Mum had it, although she was much older than me, she also had glaucoma and, touch wood, I have not go that at the moment, although I do have slight cataracts.

My sister-in-law has this and the injections and the numbing drops before hand have worked well:-) Smoking is very bad for the condition.
