Iv'e started to get a strange burning/tight skin feeling under my toes and on the soles of both my feet. Mostly I notice it more at night and I'm not sleeping well. It doesn't impede my walking which I do a lot of. A friend has suggested its a lack of vitamin B12. Anyone know if this is likely, and would it be ok to try a course or is a visit to the GP necessary. Its not always easy for me to go out as I'm a carer for my husband. I have to make special arrangements or take him with me. Any thoughts, Thanks

Are you on any medication?
I have to have blood tests tomorrow because my feet burn at night, just to rule out diabetes as ir can be a symptom. It may be worth you asking your doctor.
I get the same. Started when I was on chemo?
I am advised it is peripheral neuropathy and put on Thiamine supplement. Helps a bit but like everything else getting resigned to it all. :-(

Yes a few but nothing new mostly Ive been taking the same for years. Thyroxine, Ramperil, Allopurinol, Addcal. Excuse the spelling but you can understand what they are :)
As there was no response to my post on your previous thread...."Slight dip in kidney function"., I do not expect much feedback from this thread.
I would not advice taking B12 without evidence of that vitamin being deficient as shown on blood tests.

As your symptoms have only just come to light recently, I would monitor the situation over the next month and then, if there is no improvement , then see your GP.

Thanks Sqad. I'll monitor the situation for a couple of weeks and then see the GP if no improvement.
Sorry I didn't respond to the Kidney post. I have a lot going on this end and sometimes I read things intending to reply but just foget. All seems to be too much sometimes having my own health and someone elses to be resonsible for.
I understand......
I have experienced these sensations since my last visit to the chiropodist - not my usual one was away, and that lady I saw did not remove the usual amount of hard skin from my soles and toes.

I have been again today, seen my usual practitioner and advised of the sensations of burning, and she confirmed that the removal of excess hard skin would stop it, and it has.

Just a suggestion.
just seeing this (and apologies for digression) - my mother was a teacher and during a class visit to somewhere or other which involved a lot of walking, one of the kids said to her:-

"miiiiiiss - you know that pain you get in your bottom when you want to go to the toilet but can't?"
to which mother's answer was a very guarded "errrrrr" - to which the kiddie responded "well I've got that in my foot".

Mushroom25 - I love your response about feet. Put a smile on my face. Used to work with kids, they can come up with some wonderful expressions. Your Mum of course knew exactly what was meant. "We've walked too much!"
