Apparently vitamin C helps because it increases the acidity in the urine making it inhabitable for the bacteria.

Foods high in vit C are broccoli and Oranges

That sounds useful.Thanks.
Very difficult problem....very difficult to which the answer is not obvious.
Yes......you can try Vitamin C Cranberry Juice......and anything else going but there is no reliable evidence that any of them work.

The most up to date and reliable studies seem to suggest that long term antibiotics , may be up to 6 months may well be the answer......providing that it is a bacterial cystitis confirmed by tests.
I have been prone to UTI's in the past and I always had a urine test which was sent for checking at the local hospital as my GP says that different bacteria require different antibiotics.
I have found that live yoghurt, both ingested and applied locally, can provide relief until the right antibiotic is found and kicks in. It once took 3 goes at different antibiotics. Fingers crossed, it has not been an issue for a good few years now.
I also have recurring UTI and my urologist is reluctant to prescribe antibiotics. What I understand is as long as the little devils don't stick to the wall of your bladder or whatever, don't worry too much unless you have bad symtoms, which I don't. He prescibed me Utipro Plus, which is natural product. Seems to work ok, haven't had any symptoms lately. Apparently they keep them from sticking.
