Inspired by the post about the drama, "Elizabeth Is Missing, " thought I would ask about forgetfulness.

I am a male aged 69, and it is most annoying when I frequently forget words or names.

I usually goggle something for the answer, or turn to Mrs T to help me out.

It is not serious, but happens with such frequency to be a little concerning.

Any opinions from, (what was that name?) ah yes, ABers?

My memory is getting worse,I used to worry about it until I became apathetic, now I'm not sure if I care !

I forget all the time. even names of old workmates . Not a big deal.
I sometimes forget names of neighbours. I cannot remember what I had for tea yesterday but can remember what I did in my teens.

Some things are best not remembered, lol.

Thanks Sparkly. Glad to learn I'm not alone.
You are definitely not alone, similar age to yourself and I constantly forget things - part of the process of ageing I'm afraid.
75 next. Long term memory brilliant. Short term memory almost non existent. Quite normal, nothing to worry about.

Thank you all. Good to know it's normal.
Thought I might have the beginning of dementia.
Enjoy.

It's forgetting words that is most annoying.
I've always been forgetful. I'll make a list and forget to take it out with me. I've forgotten where I've parked quite a few times. I've even driven to the supermarket and walked home forgetting I drove.
Yes Theland, sometimes I cannot bring to mind the appropriate word necessary. Most annoying.
I’ve got a picture perfect memory, sometimes wish I hadn’t , but the good stuff is with music, names, phone numbers etc
Hi Bobbs. When I worked most of the staff had a large list of phone numbers in a book, I remembered all the ones I needed. I know my my NI number, my wife does not, lol.
Definitely normal. Conversations with my other half are quite funny these days whilst we both struggle to find the right words.
Yep , know that as well Sparklykid, OH sometimes forgets stuff but he can reel off his RAF number no problem
I suppose the older I get the better I was.
I watch a load of old films and cannot for the life of me remember the actors names, drives my wife mad. Who is that I say, she gets quite annoyed ,lol.

Actors names? Me too.
I do remember though, that in Ben Hur, the white horse always wins :-)
Definitely normal, and I agree that forgetting words is the most annoying. I constantly forget words that I use quite commonly, like the word adaptor, which I needed for the Christmas tree lights. Couldn't remember it for the life of me in the electrical shop. I had to resort to hand motions and "the thingy that connects the two-pin plug to the three-pin socket". Sometimes when I forget a word I just say the word "bananas" but only with my family because other people tend to look at me strangely.
Yes, all normal, Theland. They say if you think you might have dementia you haven’t got it.

Like ummmm I’m always forgetting where I parked. I can never remember my way back to my table after I’ve gone to the loo in a restaurant. I often end up in the kitchen or the office, or wander round the tables hoping to see a familiar face.
I can't even get my kids names right :-)
you are not alone..
