I'm really glad you said that actually. I went to one last week and I am going to go again tonight. I totally believe in it too, they gave me a message from my Uncle who died a couple of years ago.

Hi Laurinha , (hi bel) I have also been to alot of spiritualist churches and meetings, some have been real eye openers, but some are just plain daft. Years ago Doris Stokes was considered one of the all time best, but I didnt rate her at all.
Hi, I think SC do wonderful work. On my 1st visit to one I was given message from both my parents long passed. The medium did'nt know me from Adam and she brought me a lot of comfort. I've since had spiritual healing..what a wonderful feeling:-)
Can you take children there?
Question Author

You could probably take older, quieter children there as the spiritualists kinda need silence but I'm not too sure to be perfectly honest.

Thanks for your replies - it's nice to know there are others interested in this.

Hi laurinha,I have never been to a spiritualist church, but twenty years ago when I lived in London,I went to the SAGBin Belgrave Square on more than one occasion and found the whole experienceto be a real eye-opener. Since moving to the north of england,I have seena couple of spiritualists both of whom put my mind at rest on a number of matters.I firmly believe in their practice and find them to be gentle souls.
I have been lots of times and my husband is healing leader for his spiritualist church..I dont think they will mind you taking children as long as they are quiet..perhaps take a toy along..It can be disturbing if they make a lot of noise..The spiritualist church is the place to go for private sittings or healing as they are not money grabbers..and are all well trained..i used to go a lot at one time and had many good messages..
I once saw Doris Stokes and she was actually booed !!! I think you either believe or u don't, and as they say a believer needs no proof and there is no proof enough for a non believer. I have seen good and bad. My beliefs are through personal experiences only. I would just advise anyone to answer any questions with NO more than a 'yes' or 'no' , there are a lot of 'cold readers' out there.

This is another form of brain washing. Nobody can give you messages from the dead. If that is the case why can't we all do it? As long as you want to go and it gives you something then fine but don't hand over large sums of money.

Hi all - thanks for your responses.

I went to another spiritualist meeting last night but it wasn't nearly as good as the last. The medium they had in this time spent the first 20 minutes preaching about ego!

Butterfly - There was a woman with her daughter of about seven years old so I'm guessing it's totally fine to take kids.

Funnywebsite - Thanks for your comments, I know a lot of people who have similar opinions. I whole heartedly disagree with most of your points though.

I can guarantee that I am NOT being brainwashed - that is ridiculous and very presumptuous of you. The fact that you don't even know me is the only thing preventing me from being offended by that comment.

I think the reason that not everyone can receive messages from those that have died etc is because not everyone is as sensitive to it. I guess it is like anything else in life - some people are born with the skill, some people work very hard to acheive it and others don't bother at all.

I feel it's like you asking - "Why can't we all be physicists?" Some people will just never manage to get there minds around the space/time continuum.

I personally have known Doctors, Professors, Pharmacists, Musicians, people from all walks of life who have the 'gift' of being able to communicate with the spirit world, in one way or another. (Not all of them 'see dead people') It's not just something for the feeble minded or the jaded!

I do however agree with you on your point about large sums of cash. The place I go to doesn't cost anything at all - a donation if you can afford it - a bit like regular church.

Cont'd.

I think that if anyone requires you to hand them a wad of your hard earned muller before they'll give you any information - it's probably best to avoid them. As with anything else in life there are bound to be some scammers and some who are willing to take advantage of others if they can.

I really think that a lot of people, yourself included should try opening their eyes and minds to the fact that there are spirits with us - day and night. Very little would make sense for me if this life was the be all and end all.

Everything in life which cannot be explained away by science is dismissed as hoo-ha. I think it is disturbingly arrogant and a great shame that a lot of people actually believe that 'We' are all there is!

Thanks again guys for your comments.
