thankyou ,the ones I used before were 3 squares .
It's a newish design now, simpler.
Interesting. Can't picture how simpler it could be compared to just putting a sample on a card. (Maybe it's electronic and self dates/times.)
Just one sample now.
Ah, no second or third opinion then. Ok.
And still, no doubt, not a 100% reliable test as I found out. :-(
No, it isn't.
Unfortunately not Retro, but we have to use what we have.

Mine first one is on its way apparently - I will definitely use it even knowing there are errors.
Not long after I was diagnosed with bowel cancer I read that there were going to be national screening centres where colonoscopy's would be the new yardstick to determine cancer. That eventually found mine.
It doesn't seem to have got off the ground or at least I have not read or heard any more about it.
It’s a sigmoidoscopy retro, not quite as invasive as a colonoscopy and not requiring the same bowel prep.
It has been rolled out in some areas, my cousin has had hers, she lives in Hertfordshire.
Bowel Scope Screening is being rolled out for those aged 55 - 60.

excellent, I am aged out, saves me refusing
60 seems a bit early to stop screening for bowel cancer. Fortunately not in Scotland as far as I can see .
Ooft.......
Bowel testing still available . Must read the question .
Scoping as a routine ends at 60, thereafter it becomes the stool sampling.

Any test will e offered if you have concerns and express them to your GP.

Thanks Vagus,
I wish they would use that method for me. I still have to have a yearly colonoscopy even though I was given the 'all clear' late last year. A colonoscopy found I had cancer of the sigmoid colon 5 years previously despite several stool sample tests that gave false results.
My latest colonoscopy, three weeks ago, was most uncomfotable and eventually after about two hours had to be aborted as the camera would not go around the innards properly. Bit disconcerting was that.
I now await an apointment for a Scan of some sort to examine the rest of the bowel the camera couldn't reach. :-(
These stool samples, do they use a swab like the customs guys looking for drugs when testing where the clarty have been perching?
Does it work on ordinary chairs too?
Is there any need to have one of these sample tests done ; if you've had a colonoscopy ?
