Why is it that when men start to get older, the hair starts to get longer in their ears and nose and their eyebrows and nowhere else? Why does this seem especially so when men are balding?

Because your question has gone unanswered for so long I will give my incomplete reply. My understanding is that both unwanted hair and baldness are at least partly genetically generated conditions. Additionally, hormonal factors are involved and a book I have actually states that baldness is a genetic trait triggered by the changes brought on by puberty.
