Is there a hypnotist I could see that could help me erase a person from my memory? Or at least make them seem so insignificant that I would barely recognise them if I ever met them in the street. This is a person I have lived with for three years, but who I have not heard from or seen for over four years.

Sounds like they are already erased from your memory- almost. Also sounds like you are angry at their lack of communication. Throw yourself into your present life and forget about past greivances.

I doubt if any reputable hyponist would do this, as perhaps they might feel it was more important to come to terms with whatever effect this person can be having on you and where that effect is coming from. You have not elaborated on why you are thinking in these terms, I can only suppose that you were hurt or something ... whatever is in the past we can draw upon and learn and perhaps gain strength from ... even horrible things are maybe better confronted and dealt with than pushed and painted over and remain lurking in the background like some horrible sypware on your computer. Having said that I would not want to play amateur pychologist having no knowledge of why you are asking this question so I apologise if it might seem belittling of some dreadful experience you may have. Maybe you could share it with the AB and get some more in depth opinion ????? In direct answer to your question I have no idea if it is possible or not, only a hypnotist might be able to tell us !

Have you seen Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
it's all about that sort of thing, unfortunately it's fictional.

I'm sure we've all had someone we'd like to forget from our memory....seriously though, if this a bad experience have you tried counselling....believe me it does help.

Good luck.
And speaking of this 'indentiKit' system ... I saw someone at work the other day who I instantly recognised as an assistant I used to see when I was a child, in my local department store (and I have only just returned to the area in which I was born) and I asked her if she used to work there. She replied 'oh yes I left thirty eight years ago'. So that brain system would require some erasing !
