Blood Pressure

Is there a way of working out what your blood pressure should be? If you are over 70 and suffer painful arthritis, your blood pressure wouldn't be the same as a young person who isn't in pain would it?

Thanks for the link danny, quite a bit of reading there but I will read it all. Do you check your own blood pressure at home?I am doing mine once a day (doctors orders!) When I have it done at the doctors, they do it 3 times and take the best of 3.When I do it myself I get a different reading each time even though I'm just sitting still and quiet. Last night it was 120/83, did it again straight away and it was 154/93 then 145/83 so I've no idea how you choose the best one.I'm hoping sqad might be around to help me understand it better.
Barsel, I check mine annually for a week which is forwarded to my GP and any time I feel as though it has gone up,
I have an Omron which is generally regarded as one of the best, but if you decide to get one make sure it is the one with the arm cuff, not the wrist.

Barsel battery ones, the kind that a GP is allowed to use because they can't pop down to Poundland and buy one, it has to be "proper", either work or they don't. Accuracy is not affected by battery state. Are the readings you get more or less what your doc got, have they been concerned by the variation, or concerned about your BP while you have been self monitoring?
danny quite a variation in price. Do you think this one would be ok?
