Not comparable. I think all medications can have different side-effects for different people. Sometimes those wear off after a couple of weeks, sometimes they don't, but are worth it anyway- and sometimes an alternative is needed.
I'm on Sertraline. Currently trying to wean myself off it (one every two days at present instead of one every day). Not because of any side effects (have none, anyway) but because i want to see how i cope without them.
I did the same with Prozac many moons ago, Emmie. Afterwards, i felt ok for a number of years but life has a habit of kicking you when you are least prepared. Hence the Sertraline.
Prozac works very differently though, and is used differently now. As emmie says, antidepressants are designed for longterm and sedatives are for a short term crisis.
as been pointed out JJ, Gabapentin which made me very disorientated and Setraline are two different drugs. Gabapentin for pain relief and the other for long term mental healh problems
I had no side effects from sertraline and was on it for about 2yrs. Unfortunately it eventually stopped working (for me) and I needed to change to a different anti depressant. I've been on many throughout the years. Most seem to work for 18 months to 2yrs and then kinda stop working. The longest working is my current meds Venlafaxine - about 3 years and still working well.
Totally forgot. After the Prozac, i was given Citalopram!! That stuff totally messed with my wiring. I was only on it for 3 months and it had me climbing walls and speaking in tongues.
