What Vintage Perfume Am I Describing?

I was talking to an elderly acquaintance some time ago and she was reminiscing about her favourite perfume as a teen. This would have been around 1940s/1950s and I believe she said her mother had some too, so probably from earlier than that.

I remembered that a relative of mine had the bottle she described and I had thought it was Evening in Paris/Soir de Paris, but having researched that none of the vintage bottles are 'it'.

It was a tiny bottle, dark blue I think, circular and squat, with a very distinctive tall, pointed, ridged gold screw on lid. The lid was taller than the actual bottle.

Any ideas?

Did you post a link Zacs? It's not there now if so. I did google "Soirée de Paris" but the only perfume bottle that came up was a misspelt title on an image of a bottle of Soir de Paris.

Yes, it's always possible I've made a mistake. As I said in the original post I have already researched Evening in Paris/Soir de Paris [those are the correct names] as that's what I thought it was. But none of the bottles I found in my searches, or in Margo's link, are what I describe. I have a very vivid memory of it. It was similar to a tiny nail polish bottle with a very tall lid.

I have a vintage Medallion bottle of Je Reviens in a velvet pouch but the top does not fit the description.

None of the new suggestions I'm afraid. danny, that is a tall lid but unfortunately not the one. This bottle was very, very tiny.

Found it I think. Dark red rather than blue so apologies for that element of misinformation.

I wore Je Reviens years ago, and really liked it. My sister always wore Arpege...and I seem to remember Evening in Paris on her dresser.

How strange Pasta my best friend always wore Arpege. I bought her some for her 40th birthday.We met at school when we were 11 and are still friends

I googled too and found a bottle of Fracas, now that was a fragrance that took prisoners. Had some in my teens because Marc Bolan wore it. Far too old for me.
And Habanita by Molinard. I liked obscure ones, my friends were wearing Charlie and Cachet, then I discovered Caleche in my early 20s and its been my scent ever since.

so I got travellers in the family to ask and buy - oh so-vidge
then that ran out

then I learnt that fragrances change over time by intention
so yr mamz Chanel may NOT be the same as you buy now

then I learnt that the goop they sell as eau sauvage at airports is tailored to international travellers who have a different fragrance palette to Mrs Mopp darn Darren St Bobblethorpe ( spelt Darwin actually)
