69M Uninformed Horrible People....and...

I totally disagree with those new survery results. . .that sometimes women are to blame for being raped! I don't think ANYONE deserves to be raped. Ok, so women might wear short skirts because they want to - not because they want men to take advantage. So what if a woman is drunk and a guy walks her home - it doesn't mean she wants to have sex. If anyone is to blame, it's the dirty men that can't keep their "whatnot" in their trousers! It's disgusting, it makes me soooooo angry. Guys should know that no matter what a woman wears, how much she has had to drink, etc she does not deserve to be raped. These rapists are low lifes for blaming the women and lying that the girl wanted it. Like that girl (the famous case in the papers) - she was so drunk that a guy walked her home. She did NOT want sex, she didn't even know what she was doing so how the hell could she have consented but low and behold . . the guy just thought he could help himself. If I wanted, I could go out and wear the shortest skirt ever but it's not an advertisement for sex. Guys, if you're that desperate, go pay for it!!!

I think some people are tryn to make the point - which gets easily lost in the emotive issues under discussion, that - yes a woman has the right to say 'No' when ever and to whom ever she chooses, and in an ideal world, that would be the way it is.
However, it is a far from ideal world, and the point made is that some women's provocative dress and behaviour indicates a willingness for sex which a) she does not intend to convey and b) should not be interpereted in that way by any man who hapens to see what is not there.
The point being made, is that this is not an ideal world - such men do exist, and women should be aware of that when they consider how they dress and behave.
That is the point - not that women are wrong to dress and behave as they choose, but that there are men who will wilfully misinterperet what they see, and any woman should be aware of that and consider it when dressing and behaving in what may be consiered provocative.
Let me reiterate, I believe a woman should dress and behave as she chooses, but be aware that this is not an ideal world. I only wish it were - as a married man with three daughters, I wish that as much as anyone.
While I totally agree with the posts that say a woman should be able to dress, and to a certain extent, act how she wants, what everybody is either missing, or deliberately not mentioning, is willpower, we are all human beings, and as such, we are all different, and have different levels of willpower.
Rape is one of the worst crimes imaginable, but it happens the same as any other crime, these people, in this case males, either can't control themselves,or don't want to, and once this is understood, some effective preventive measures can be undertaken.
mmmm. some differing views and an interesting debate emerging. I think it would be interesting to ask the question to those wearing provocative clothing - or indeed anyone out on the town "Who are you dressing for". Most women would say to attract the opposite sex.
I agree that no person deserves to be raped But women do have to be aware as Andy states and Chessman, that women cannot lead men on (as some do) - due to a mixture of it not being an ideal world and the male's lack of willpower. We are descendent from animals remember and I think the male sex drive often links back to that.!!!! If you arouse a man - some will be able to stop and some won't - simple as that. So arouse at your peril !!! (even the drama Walk Away and I stumble showed the teenage boy getting really annoyed and wanting sex with the girl after she had indicated she wanted it, but then didn't. Now there's a question - would that have been rape??)

I would just like to say that it is the silly women who cry rape after getting very drunk, spending all night with their tongue down somone's throat, and then end up having sex when they wouldn't have done when sober that has caused this kind of reaction from the public!
There is a distinction between a man who rapes a woman because she is dressed in a 'come on' way and a woman who has clearly been all over a bloke in a club all night changing her mind in the morning.
I am a huge opponent of the belief that women ask for it in the way they dress and by drinking too much, but attitudes are only going to change when women who regret a drunk sexual experience stop crying rape due to guilt!
Of course no woman deserves to get raped, or any man for that matter (which does happen).
It is just a sad and violent world we live in and some men, after a beers or whatever look at women and see them as sex objects. I guess the fact they are dressed in a short skirt or whatever makes them more attractive and sexy, and blokes pick up on that. I don't think any woman deserves to be raped for one minute - do don't take this wrongly and start having a go at me - but it can be a factor if women are dressed in short skirts etc for why they are 'chosen' as a victim. I hope you understand what I am trying to say!!! People should be able to wear what they want and when they want - but unfortunately there are some right voilent and nasty people out there.
