1. A biological cleaner for getting baby vomit out of your clothes ;
2. Ear plugs to shut out the noise of all that crying ;
3. A book on child psychology, which includes the teenage years, so that you can realise that the worst is yet to come ;
4. A list of web links to parenting websites, so that you can brag that your baby is taller/heavier/brighter/chubbier/more talented/more artistic/etc than everyone else's ;
5. A tape measure for the parents of baby boys, so that they can brag that their son can pee higher into the air than anyone else's ;
6. A bottle of gin, to calm the mother's nerves ;
7. Another bottle of gin, to get the little darling to go to sleep ;
8. A large supply of Valium for Mum.

Chris, 23:55, I would add a pair of DM's for standing on lego during the night.
I got Bounty packs with mine and a free book thing. One of them also got a £500 payment from the government, which I put in stocks and shares and has risen a lot. Seems a little unfair on my others though, when they chop and change so much...
Congratulations though, tinks! Best wishes xx

pasta....never heard of such a thing, the family giving presents FINE...but the taxpayers? madness.
In the main,gynaecological problems exempted, it is the easiest thing in the world to become pregnant, no effort at all and the majority are unwanted pregnancies.
The act of delivering it is quite a different matter and rewarding is certainly appreciated, by the family, but why the whole country?
Madness.

Taken from the link: That's why, in 2017, we launched the Baby Box initiative, which is designed to give every single baby in Scotland an equal start in life.
This box does not give every baby 'an equal start in life' and I don't know how the Scottish government can make that claim.
Families in need can claim a £500 Sure Start Grant to help with the cost of having a baby and the Healthy Start scheme (unless you live in Scotland where you can claim Best Start Grant and Best Start Foods).
The box is a nice thing to have but it does not in any way make all Scottish babies equal.
